Why is it important?
Most of construction material depends on application of metal and carbon steel is the largest amount of metal alloy used in most of construction materials especially in oil and gas industrial. Corrosion problem caused US industries reached to 170 billion a year.
Perspectives
My personal prospective towards corrosion is, we cannot stop corrosion entirely but we could control corrosion with proper design and material selection. Apart of that, non-stop research in corrosion has bring many advantage to industry in their standard of operation precaution especially when handing metal in high temperature and corrosive medium.
