What is it about?

Over the years, there is significant development in the field of composites has made it possible to have alternate material for glass fibre. Since, Glass fibre have some shortcomings such as relative high density and difficulty to machine, researchers and scientists have worked to develop a Bio-composite material which is to be formed by matrix of resin and reinforcement of Natural fibre or Bio-fibre (Material derived from plant). Advantages of using such material in automotive industry are their easy availability, cheap cost, being lightweight and durability. Apart from this, these are biodegradable and recyclable, which makes the easy for disposal as compared to other petroleum based products.

Why is it important?

Now a days, Automakers are also using Bio-composites for floor mats of car, compression moulded spare tire covers. Aim of present paper is to study the different process techniques used for processing the Bio-fibre and compare different Bio-fibre with respect to their properties.
