What is it about?
Development of vision application got easier lately due to Rapid prototyping software techniques. Starting from well established environments like Matlab/Simulink it is possible to develop quickly an vision application prototype. But older methods are still valuable, more an more open source solution are available on the market. The paper describes briefly such options for embedded media applications using specialized processors.

A case study is presented based on TMS320C6437 processor, in industrial vision applications.
Perspectives
The market is overflowed with ARM compatible applications. The concepts and the ideas presented are useful to be implemented on such processors. As a personal suggestion an hybrid architecture ARM+DSP would be interesting to be implemented in high performance applications.
