What is it about?

estimating lengthy missing log interval is always a vital question when it comes to retrieving old paper logs. Current software available in industry cannot go beyond 5 feet due to software limitations. This approach has been tested successfully to estimate the lengthy missing log interval with real data being applied.

Why is it important?

for companies that are willing to convert their old paper logs when suffering from bad paper log quality. this approach is important because it can give you an easy and quick approach to implement and test.

Perspectives

This approach tries to see the potential of using GMDH as an excellent, yet tested approach to try to predict the log properties from the same well. Previous models used near-by wells to estimate these properties. This might be sound in some situations but in most cases it can give erroneous results. The approach can have serious limitations since it can be tested with data sets other than the one used to generate the model. The good thing is that it gives a correlation at the end of the day, which can be tested directly for your data set.
