What is it about?
This work consists of the study is to analysis by the finite element method the effect of the ageing of the adhesive exposed simultaneously to the temperature and water on the degradation of its mechanical properties and consequently on the transfer of loads from the plate to patch.

Why is it important?
This work allows us to understand the mechanisms that come into play when a structure is repaired by a composite patch. Our work is part of this context, the objective is to analyze by the method of the finished elements the behavior breaking of a plate damaged and repaired by patch. Four type of composite materials were used to see the effect of its rigidity on load transfer, while comparing them with a metal patch (Aluminum type).
Perspectives
The results clearly show that the stress intensity factor varies depending on the duration of aging and temperature and secondly by the effect of the orientation of the fibers in the composite patch.
