What is it about?

Due to the rapid depletion of conventional energy resources like fossil fuels and their harmful effects on the environment, there is an urgent need to seek alternative and sustainable energy sources like wind energy. The review has shown that the tubercle modification is a passive means of altering fluid flow around a wind turbine blade that can delay stall along with increasing lift and reducing drag which is a highly novel technology which exhibit superior performance to conventional engineered systems.

Why is it important?

Reviews the applications of tubercles in wind turbine blades which is a novel technology in the field of renewable sources of energy.

Perspectives

The objective of this paper is to have a review on the improvement of Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) blade design by incorporating biomimetics (application of tubercles) into blades.
