What is it about?

Reinforced soil is, above all, a composite material consisting in the association of soil with reinforcement, the latter made of metallic materials (galvanized or stainless steel in strips, grids, bars) or geosynthetics (geotextiles, geogrids or geocomposite for reinforcement) placed horizontally, and they have the ability to take high tensile forces that appear in the earth, giving the active earth pressure acting on the structure.

Perspectives

Considering a circular failure surface to evaluate the tensile forces in a reinforced earth retaining structure is correct according with all the conclusions from the experimental results of tests performed over time in this field.
