Perspectives

"The paper has illustrated that reservoir size capacity can be reduced significantly by improving the ratio of variable to fixed load generators. Buying and selling electricity contracts had initial disappointing results, which of itself is useful information, but they were present when minimizing reservoir depth became part of the objective function. Diverting a stream to the upper reservoir, if possible, had a dramatic impact on minimizing water depth and in converting a pumped storage facility into a part-hydropower plant." (p. 68)
