What is it about?

Data security being a vital aspect of a rapidly digitised world, it is important that individuals at all levels be sensitised to the potential points of vulnerability when using networked devices. This paper also details the importance of digital literacy vis-avis data security and the industry-wide efforts to deal with the lack of digital competence in certain sectors of society.

Why is it important?

The paper details the importance of digital competence as related to the rapid development of technology as well as its increasing relevance in everyday activities. Businesses and other organisations (SMEs and libraries etc.) will be less susceptible to everyday malicious attacks because of an increased awareness of basic information system vulnerabilities.

Perspectives

Completing this paper was a good experience for me because i was able to make what might usually be considered a dry topic more accessible to less tech-savvy individuals. I know that the paper is quite relatable because readers can very easily see themselves make a few mistakes indicated in the paper and make necessary adjustments suggested therein.
