What is it about?

This chapter explores how translanguaging practices can be adapted to specific needs and contexts by sharing practical examples from different countries. It presents two unique case studies: one in Türkiye, where medical English was taught at a state university using CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), and another in Brazil, where linguists and computer scientists worked together to create annotated treebanks of diverse dialects, including a hybrid language spoken by Warao refugees, influenced by Warao, Venezuelan Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. By analyzing these cases through a critical needs analysis, this chapter highlights how translanguaging can transform learning environments and offers practical recommendations for educators and researchers. To our knowledge, this is the first comparative study examining translanguaging in such distinct contexts.
