This publication explores the use of wikis in an engineering product design and development class at an Irish university.

Why is it important?
One aspect of the work of 21st century design engineers is the requirement to work remotely on design projects. Engineers coming together to design products face the challenges of working remotely, collaborating, creating, and sharing knowledge. Wikis were found to be an excellent knowledge management tool that can enable these types of projects.
Perspectives
I hope this publication will show how you can stimulate enthusiasm in initially disinterested students through the use of a novel learning technology.
