How to use extracts from the movie "Equilibrium" to make the students speak in English

What is it about?

What's it about? This article tackles the issue of how to make EFL and ESP students speak in a foreign language. I have decided to use three short extracts from the movie "Equilibrium" (it deals with a futuristic dystopia). The students do not need to know the movie to be able to express themselves. They will work both individually and then in small groups of 3/4 for role plays. They usually show a great deal of creativity and imagination.

Why is it important?

The main asset of this publication is really to offer a practical example of how to use this great dystopic movie in class for EFL and ESP students. Other extracts can also be used to tackle more ethical issues and to adapt the lesson to higher levels.
