Why is it important?
Staff identified barriers to exercise among people who live in mental health group homes. The most significant barrier identified was “lack of motivation” which is key since the literature largely supports the idea that people with SMI want to engage in physical activity. Therefore, staff require education and increased communication with people who have SMI around exercise goals.
