What is it about?

Abdominal visceral adiposity in early pregnancy can be considered as an indicator of the risk of impaired glucose tolerance in later pregnancy. Accordingly, the "hypertriglyceridemic waist" phenotype can be utilized as a clinical marker of visceral obesity.

Why is it important?

The present study aims to assess the association between the hypertriglyceridemic- waist phenotype in early pregnancy and glucose intolerance in later pregnancy.

Perspectives

I hope this article enables those who are working in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology to early diagnosing pregnant women with increased risk for developing gestational DM. Because the resources we spend on health care is not just a problem for the healthcare system, it is an issue that touches every single human being on this planet in one way or another.
