What is it about?

Air pollution is a major reason of the depletion of the ozone which allows harmful rays to reach the Earth's surface. The problem is how to create a mathematical model by determining the appropriate distribution function for the quantities of the pollutants ozone in the Tenth of Ramadan city of Zagazig province at Egypt. In this study, the moments' method, the properties of the cumulative distribution function and Anderson-Darling test were applied to determine the best values of the parameters of the generalized extreme value distribution. Moreover, the extreme values and statistical measurements were obtained with high accuracy.

Why is it important?

The statistical procedures in this study give us more accurate results than the other methods such as maximum likelihood estimation and EasyFit program. Furthermore, the extreme values, the arithmetic mean, variance, standard deviation and median of pollutants ozone can be obtained by using generalized extreme value distribution. The method used in this study enable the researchers to apply it in relevant fields. In addition, it gives very accurate results of statistics and distribution function for any other phenomena data.
