Why is it important?
Our findings show that Hornet (Polistes instabilis) can use as a protein source in feed. Also, Hornets may decrease methane production in the rumen. However, Hornet's fat ratio can limit the level of supplementing ratio in the diet.
Perspectives
Insects are a very new topic as feed, especially for ruminants. So we need more experiments to better understand. I think insects are suitable for sustainable production in animal feed, so it will be a very important issue in the future.
