What is it about?

This study shows how the democratic imperative of elections have been turned to a criminal activity through the undemocratic practices of politicians and political stakeholders in Nigeria. Rather than winning elections through free and fair contests, the study shows that violence and all sorts of electoral fraud determine the outcomes of elections in Nigerian democracy.

Perspectives

Nigeria's democratic politics seldom adheres to internationally acclaimed democratic tenets and values. The consequence is that leaders that emerge in the country are not necessarily the reflections of the people, but outcomes of 'criminality' in the form of violence and election fraud.
