Why is it important?

It argues from moral and economic view points for a reconsideration of language rights and identity and for the value that multilingualism brings to societies. The Statement was collectively authored by the participants of the Salzburg meeting., which included leading experts on language rights and multilingualism who all contributed generously of their time and expertise to the session and the Statement.
