Why is it important?
Debates about representation overlook how corporate interest in managing expectations about identity shapes the content we see on screen.
Perspectives
It is important to see how content created for the mass audience is shaped by markets. The implication for the consumer is that their choices in terms of consumption matter and they can find material that supports the cultural message they believe are important.
