What is it about?

The article describes the linguistic landscape of two towns in the border area between Spanish and Basque, between the provinces of Cantabria and Biscay.

Why is it important?

The research deals with a rural area, which is a type of territory little analyzed by linguistic landscape studies. It also investigates the influence of language policies on the configuration of this landscape and the importance of other non-linguistic elements, such as iconography, in defining this border situation between two very different languages.

I hope that this work will help to broaden the perspectives of language landscape studies, its areas of interest and its relationship to other disciplines, such as language policy
