What is it about?

To evaluate the impact strength of the heat-cure denture base materials incorporated with various concentrations of silver nanoparticles.

Why is it important?

An ideal denture base material should have adequate impact strength to withstand sudden application of forces. Various researchers have attempted to improve the mechanical properties of denture base materials by incorporating different fillers. This study investigated the effect of different concentrations of silver nanoparticles on the impact strength of denture base materials.

Perspectives

Silver nanoparticles incorporation reduced the impact strength of the denture base materials. This study observed that agglomeration of the nanoparticles occurred as their concentration increased in the resin matrix. These nanoparticle agglomerations resulted in decreased impact strength.
