What is it about?

We compared six rapid devices, two ELISA tests and one chemiluminescence assay with PCR using 210 blood-donor samples. The chemiluminescence test achieved 100% sensitivity and specificity, both ELISA tests performed strongly and the rapid devices produced variable results.

Why is it important?

Missing hepatitis B in donated blood can transmit infection to recipients. The results support using ELISA or higher-technology screening where possible and help blood banks select tests that balance accuracy with resource limitations.

Perspectives

From my perspective, this work matters because Missing hepatitis B in donated blood can transmit infection to recipients. I hope the findings support further research and informed, evidence-based decisions.
