What is it about?
This study examines how organizational culture influences the level of social responsibility in civil society organizations, particularly those involved in combating drug-related problems in Fallujah District, Al-Anbar Province, Iraq. Organizational culture refers to the shared values, beliefs, and work practices that guide employees' behavior and decision-making within an organization. The research focuses on four key dimensions of organizational culture: risk tolerance, orientation, integration, and management support. Using a questionnaire distributed to employees of civil society organizations working in social development and drug prevention, the study investigated how these cultural dimensions affect organizational commitment to social responsibility. The findings show that organizations with a strong and supportive organizational culture demonstrate higher levels of social responsibility and greater effectiveness in addressing social challenges, especially drug abuse. Shared organizational values, effective coordination among employees, and strong managerial support were found to play a significant role in enhancing organizational performance and community engagement. The study also highlights the importance of aligning organizational goals with social objectives to improve the impact of civil society organizations on local communities. Overall, the research demonstrates that developing a positive organizational culture can strengthen the ability of civil society organizations to contribute to drug prevention efforts, raise community awareness, and support sustainable social development.

Why is it important?
This study is important because it addresses the growing challenge of drug abuse from an organizational and managerial perspective, an area that has received limited attention in the local context. Rather than focusing solely on legal or health-related solutions, the research highlights the critical role that organizational culture plays in enhancing the social responsibility of civil society organizations. The study provides empirical evidence that organizational culture significantly influences how effectively organizations fulfill their social responsibilities and respond to community needs. Its findings demonstrate that management support, shared values, organizational integration, and a willingness to embrace constructive change can improve the effectiveness of anti-drug initiatives. The research offers practical guidance for civil society organizations, policymakers, and community leaders seeking to strengthen institutional performance and social impact. By fostering a supportive organizational culture, organizations can improve their capacity to address complex social problems, increase public trust, and contribute more effectively to sustainable community development and drug prevention efforts.
Perspectives
As the author, I believe this study contributes to a better understanding of how internal organizational factors can influence the success of social initiatives aimed at addressing pressing community challenges. While drug abuse is often examined from social, legal, or health perspectives, this research demonstrates that organizational culture is also a critical factor in determining the effectiveness of prevention and awareness efforts. Conducting this study provided an opportunity to explore the practical realities faced by civil society organizations in Fallujah and to identify organizational practices that can strengthen their social role. I hope the findings encourage researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers to pay greater attention to organizational culture as a strategic tool for enhancing social responsibility and improving community outcomes. Ultimately, this research emphasizes that sustainable social impact begins with strong organizational values, effective leadership, and a shared commitment to serving society.
