What is it about?

Most of organic molecules exist in equilibrium related to the rotation around bonds and vibrations. We have studied model compound that can be stabilised (few conformations - shapes of the molecule) by hydrogen bonding - an interaction that is formed and broken fast.

Why is it important?

The unique in this work is the use of double intramolecular hydrogen bonding to stabilise some conformations of the molecule.

Perspectives

There is a very little number of publications describing multiple intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
