What is it about?

Sharing knowledge about nanomaterials was previously not really possible, as existing chemical databases focus on simple, small chemical compounds, whereas nanomaterials are complex mixtures of many different nanoparticles. Precisely describing what we know about them required a new approach. This database proposes exactly that, a new way to store that information in a database and make it easily available via web interfaces.

Why is it important?

With limited research funding to study the interactions of nanomaterials with humans, animals, and our ecosystem, it is essential that study results we do have get shared with the rest of the research community in an accurate, precise, and efficient way.
