What is it about?

The purpose of this study is to examine adult learner's user acceptance of artificial intelligence lecturer in distance education. We utilize in-depth interview as well as questionnaire methods for data collection from Sout Korean adults who attending distance courses. We find that adult learners are reluctant to accept artficial intelligence as a lecturer in distance education. Second, interviewees prefer human type avatar instead of robot -type avatar as a lecturer. Third, non-negligible portion of respondents agree that they are possible to build an emphatic relationship with artificial intelligence lecturer.

Why is it important?

Online education will become an unescapable trend in the future faced with COV-19. Our findings show that some of respondents are possible to build an emphatic relationship with artificial intelligence lecturer. These findings will provide a signal that it is possible to utilize artificial intelligence as a lecturer instead of assistant of courses.

Perspectives

My research plan is to continue researches of artificial intelligence acceptablility in the perspective of human beings. Upcoming the age of artificial intelligence, it is necessary to study the interaction between human beings and artificial intelligence.
