What is it about?
The books contains of a list of approx. 1000 German jewish autobiographical texts published between the enlightenment and th present. To understand the literary genre a short introduction shows the history of the genre and its reflections on social and political history and also the different philosophical ideas about the autobiographical self.

Why is it important?
The bibliographical records of German jewish autobiographies enable different kinds of historical research in context with the German Jewry. Various indices help you to identify autobiographical sources relevant for your research. The indices are both geographical and socio-historical so you can get instant access to texts about - for example - Jewish actors and actresses in Vienna in the early 19th century.
Perspectives
It ist an important publication for my ongoing research about the German-Jewish topic. Why? - It provides me with a lot of autobiographical sources to enhance my knowledge of the topic.
