What is it about?

This paper is about reassigning a species that was incorrectly placed into the wrong genus. Not only was it misplaced, but during the reassignment, we realized the species does not fit into any known genus, and so we created a new genus for it.

Why is it important?

This publication is important on many levels. Prior to this paper almost nothing was published on this species. This paper resulted in the correct identity of the species, as well as creating a new genus for snakes.

Perspectives

Though this paper was very significant, it did not provide a lot of morphological differences or natural history data. Those data were later published in a following paper.
