What is it about?
This article reviews studies from the last ten years on how mobile apps and other digital tools support people with different disabilities in areas such as reading, writing, communication, mathematics, self-control and daily living skills. It analyses 21 empirical experiences to understand which technologies are used, with which types of disabilities and ages, and what benefits they bring to autonomy and inclusion.

Why is it important?
The review shows that technological interventions for people with disabilities are growing but still scarce, despite their potential to improve autonomy, learning and participation in society. Identifying the most effective tools and target skills helps guide teachers, families and professionals when choosing and designing apps that really enhance quality of life and inclusive education
Perspectives
From a personal perspective, this work confirms how well-designed technologies can become powerful allies for the autonomy and inclusion of people with disabilities. Bringing together evidence from different countries and profiles helps to better understand what works, under what conditions, and where more research and innovation are urgently needed.
