Why is it important?
Being extremely vulnerable, children are at a greater risk of maltreatment. An understanding of this matter is equally important for health professionals and general public. This article highlights the roles and responsibilities of various individuals and organisations in safeguarding children from abuse. Despite being a global issue, there is still a lack of understanding of child abuse among various professionals. Which leads to poor planning and implementation of safeguarding policies.
Perspectives
Being a Paediatrician, I have come across the cases of suspected maltreatment of children in various health settings and different countries. This experience and exposure prompted me to write this article to raise awareness about this serious issue on a global level. I hope this article will help health and wellbeing of children throughout the world.
