What is it about?
Community-Based Health Insurance scheme (CBHI) can guarantee access to quality healthcare services and increase universal health coverage. Enrolments for this scheme in Nigeria is however low. We sought to assess the awareness and willingness of households in Rivers State to participate in CBHI.

This study raises awareness on the need to engage in community health insurance schemes and reduce the prevalence of families that incur catastrophic costs during their times of ill health.
Perspectives
The awareness of CBHI in Rivers State is low but the willingness to participate is high. Community engagement to increase awareness of CBHI should be strengthened.
