What is it about?
Children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and their families suffer significant burdens associated with their disease. Pediatric palliative care (PPC) provision is a means to address these burdens; however, there has been limited utilization of PPC for children with CKD. This review serves to define PPC, highlight the unmet need in pediatric CKD, discuss the state of palliative care in adult nephrology and other analogous chronic pediatric disease states, and finally to introduce future opportunities for study.
