What is it about?
More women than men suffer from CKD, while more men receive dialysis treatment. To examine this phenomenon, we conducted interviews with 47 patients and 16 family members. Some ideas for the gender mismatch that interviewees presented were: 1) women care more for their health, 2) women have a greater workload that may prevent them from going to treatment, 3) men except more help from their family.
