Palliative Care for Dialysis-Dependent Pediatric Patients: A Survey of Providers, Nurses, and Caregivers

What is it about?

Palliative care remains an underutilized service for dialysis-dependent pediatric patients. In this study, we explored knowledge about, experience with, and attitudes toward palliative care among pediatric nephrology providers, inpatient pediatric nephrology bedside nurses, and caregivers of dialysis-dependent pediatric patients. Results support further education for providers and bedside nurses about palliative care as well as early and robust palliative care involvement for dialysis-dependent pediatric patients
