What is it about?

Home dialysis is used less by Black and Hispanic individuals compared to White persons, and by individuals impacted by poverty, housing insecurity, and lower levels of education. This difference in home dialysis use lessens when considering individuals who later transition to home dialysis after starting in a dialysis clinic. In our study, social and financial patient factors were not associated with an increased risk of home dialysis failure. This suggests that with additional support, social barriers to home dialysis choice can be overcome.
