What is it about?
More accurate ways to estimate kidney function based on things that can be measured in blood samples are needed. In this study, we compared a new method, panel eGFR, to the most commonly used methods. We studied this in White and Black individuals who had been part of a study of high blood pressure, and made comparisons in groups separated by age (under or over 65 years), sex, and race. We found that the new method performed better than the existing methods in younger, Black males, and performed just as well as the existing methods in the other groups.
