What is it about?
Important questions remain about the benefits and approaches to using blood thinners to prevent clots in patients with diseases of the filters of the kidney (glomerulonephritis). New blood thinning medications are available that are convenient for patients but it is not yet clear if they offer safety benefits or work as well as traditional blood thinners. In this review we discuss some of the new blood thinners tested in glomerulonephritis, and highlight gaps in our knowledge about this topic. We also propose how to design future studies that may answer questions about the optimal blood thinners in patients with glomerulonephritis.
