A review of vulnerable road user groups
What is it about?
Around the world, it is well recognised that young drivers, motorcyclists and older drivers are vulnerable road users. If we consider their proportion of the driving population, these groups are over-represented in the crash statistics.
Why is it important?
This article summarises what we know about personal and environmental factors that increase crash risks for each of these groups, and flags potential areas of future research.
