What is it about?

Attempt to synthesize some important cyclodextrin derivatives in a green way. In some cases almost identical substitution pattern could be achieved in comparison with the solution reactions.

Why is it important?

Although the mentioned cyclodextrin derivatives are prepared in aqueous medium but using a solventless method the amount of water can be considerably reduced. The utilization of the reagents is also improved. Some side reactions can be eliminated using a high energy ball mill.

Perspectives

Under solventless conditions the degree of substitution can be controlled better. Some hydrolysis sensitive intermediates can be prepared by ball milling.
