What is it about?
Wireless capsule endoscopes and cardiac implants have very different radio needs, yet both are constrained by extreme miniaturization. We present a highly compact triple-band MIMO antenna that serves wireless capsule endoscopy and cardiac implantable devices simultaneously. Three operating bands with strong port-to-port isolation let one tiny antenna family handle data telemetry, control, and safety monitoring, validated in tissue-mimicking environments.

Why is it important?
Rather than designing one antenna per device per band, a compact multi-band MIMO platform reduces size, cost, and design cycles across an entire class of implants. The isolation performance is what makes it clinically meaningful — antennas that talk to each other waste power and corrupt data.
Perspectives
We kept shrinking this antenna and it kept refusing to lose performance. Papers like this are engineering stubbornness rewarded.
