What is it about?
The article shows that the retrospective questionnaire is more prone to overdiagnosis of PMS and PMDD when women suffer from comorbid depression. Furthermore, the questionnaire diagnosed PMS more often when it was completed in the luteal phase than in the follicular phase.

Why is it important?
All studies exclude depressive women from PMS research. However, in everyday practice, it is worth paying attention to the diagnosis of PMS, which may be distorted by comorbid depression. Moreover, this is the first study to show that PMS is overdiagnosed during the luteal phase of the cycle.
Perspectives
I am glad that we were able to apply the new method of psychometric analysis of the Item Response Theory (IRT). It was also a surprise for me that the examination in the luteal phase can change the diagnosis so much when made by the retrospective questionnaire.
