What is it about?
GH and IGF1 play an important role in maintaining neuron and glial cells function. Positive clinical effects have been demonstrated in brain injury patients while no positive effects have been found in neurodegenerative diseases.

Why is it important?
The neurotrophic effect of GH and IGF1 on peripheral or central nervous system are evident when the neurons are still efficient. When neuronal cells are severe damage by the disease the process has become irreversible.
Perspectives
The effect of GH and IGF1 could be useful in the pre-clinical condition of neurodegenerative diseases.
