What is it about?

Identification of mRNA-miRNA interaction is always very difficult because of numerous possible pairs. In this paper, I demonstrate that PCA based unsupervised FE can identify mRNA-miRNA pairs among multiple cancers effectively.

Why is it important?

Usually, before identifying mRNA-miRNA pairs, mRNAs/miRNAs that exhibit differential expression between patients and healthy controls are screened. Although this screening criteria must be tuned from samples to samples, I demonstrate that PCA based unsupervised FE is free from this tuning problems, i.e., common criterion can be applied to multiple cancers.

Perspectives

I have used PCA based unsupervised FE to multiple bioinformatic problems. I demonstrated that this methodology can be applied to identification miRNA-mRNA expression using gene expressions.
