What is it about?

Pine nuts are a popular type of nut around the globe. Some myths are often associated with it. For instance, it causes pine nut syndrome (PNS) or medically termed as cacogeusia. We have summarized different aspects revolving around pine nuts including this syndrome, its possible effect on trade development and market share, and finally which insects or microorganisms are attacking the trees producing pine nuts.

Why is it important?

We have focused on pathogens/Insects and market development of pine nuts since last 10 years. It is a unique piece of work because no previous work has been done on market analysis and its link to phytosanitary conditions. Our research tells what has been done and what needs to be done on the topic of pine nuts to make it a more profitable source of income.

Perspectives

Writing this article with my supervisor was a great experience of learning. This article provides audiences with an innovative approach to address different issues connected with pine nuts.
