What is it about?
In this article, we analyse real data on electricity service in remote areas of Colombia that are not connected to the national grid. We use statistical tools to find patterns, group municipalities with similar characteristics, and detect where service is most deficient. The idea is that this information will serve as a basis for proposing solutions, guiding public policy, and improving the living conditions of those who live in these regions.

Why is it important?
This research is important because it provides a detailed, data-driven snapshot of the state of electricity in Colombia's non-interconnected areas—territories that have historically been invisible to energy policies. What makes it unique is that it applies complex but accessible data analysis techniques to public information, generating useful knowledge for decision-making in the public, academic, and industrial sectors. Its distinctive approach lies in using data mining methods to identify real energy needs and opportunities, allowing resources to be directed where they are most needed. Implicitly, it provides a concrete tool for planning clean energy projects in vulnerable areas, moving towards a fairer energy transition.
Perspectives
Writing this article was both technically and emotionally meaningful. Working with real data from regions that are often left out of national statistics gave us the chance to turn numbers into visibility for communities that live in energy poverty. I hope this research encourages others to explore data driven approaches for social and environmental impact, and above all, that it supports efforts to bring reliable, clean electricity to every corner of Colombia especially where it has never arrived before.
