Why is it important?
The study shows a significant association between early language ability and later literacy skills in VP children. This information is important as it opens ways to identify those children who need support for their language development already at an early age and to provide support for them.
Perspectives
The first author of the article, PhD Student Eveliina Joensuu did a great job in analysing the data and in preparing the manuscript. It was a pleasure to work with her and together with other authors of the present manuscript. We hope that the information presented will be helpful for the families of VP children and that the results can be used to develop clinical follow-up of VP children.
