What is it about?
Sudden midwinter stratospheric warmings at high latitudes are the strongest stratospheric disturbances, which occur very predominantly on the Northern Hemisphere. Their effects on the low-latitude ionosphere has been broadly studied and reasonably understood but midlatitude effects are much less known.

Why is it important?
This is one of a few investigations of effects of sudden stratospheric warmings on the ionosphere.
Perspectives
This was our first step in investigating ionospheric effects of sudden stratospheric warmings.
