What is it about?
Hawthorn (HAW) herbal preparation appears to function via modulation of oxidative stress, reduction of inflammation and inhibition of HSC activation. Accordingly, the present findings introduce HAW as a novel drug candidate for treating liver fibrosis. However, these observations require additional experiments for verification.

Why is it important?
The current study was conducted to evaluate antifibrotic effect Hawthorn herbal treatment against CCl4-induced liver fibrosis. HAW not only decreased liver injury, and recovered liver function, but also reduced ECM deposition
