What is it about?

Description of a method for sampling of leaves from field grown plants for subsequent frost tolerance tests in the laboratory. Tests that show that there is no interference with senescence of cut leaves.

Perspectives

The proposed protocol allows for frost tolerance (FT) tests on plants acclimated under ambient field conditions. Thus the time course of FT as a result of acclimation and de-acclimation can be monitored. Applicability to other plant groups beyond small grain cereals should be tested.
