What is it about?
School culture includes values, principles, and criteria. It is an integral part of sustainability education, of which climate change education is seen as a way to improve students’ ability to take action to mitigate climate change. This survey aimed to investigate Finnish student teachers’ views of factors important in implementing climate change educatio in school culture and their abilities as teachers to promote climate change education.

Why is it important?
The main lesson of this study is related to the challenges related to the implementation of transformative change in school culture and sustainability education. The important elements influencing the school culture were the formation of common values in the school and the values of teachers. Therefore, the values must be considered in the daily life of the school to promote sustainable development (e.g., concrete ways to achieve a more ecologically sustainable school life) in the activities of the staff and in teaching.
